As we celebrated Puerto Rico's rich culture and resilience on the mainland, a stark reality loomed over the island; for4 weeks, over 100,000 residents have been left with limited access to clean drinking water. It is not just a statistic, it is a grave humanitarian crisis that is affecting families and communities. The lack of clean water is just one symptom of a larger systemic neglect. While the government offers tax free incentives to outsiders and sells prime beachfront protected land to billionaires, the locals continue to live with an unreliable basic needs, including electricity. It's a heartbreaking reality that limited improvements on social issues exist; the government has hindered local agriculture by imposing unnecessary restrictions on farmers. Allegations of mismanagement and corruption within the government have raised concerns about transparency and accountability.
Puerto Ricans deserve so much better. It is time for change-change that prioritizes the well being of all Puerto Ricans.
The island belongs to the Puerto Rican people-the farmers, the families, the warriors who have contributed to our nation's fabric. They need Leadership who understands this truth, someone who will advocate fiercely for their people. Ultimately, the heart and soul of Puerto Rica cannot be bought or sold; it must be respected, honored, nurtured and cherished. It will always be "La Perla del Caribe." Puerto Rico is not for sale.

Albert Camus on popularity
"Isn't it strange that I who have written only unpopuler books should be such a popular fellow?"
This quote by Albert Camus captures a delightful irony. It highlights the contrast between the reception of his work and his personal popularity. Camus suggests that an author can be admired for their character, even if their writing isn't widely embraced. This reflection invites us to reconsider how we define success and the value of genuine connection over mainstream acceptance.

June is Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month
Shout out to Leadership in Health Foundation - Myasthenia Gravis Awareness in Puerto Rico
The Foundation's story began with Carlos Rivera Valle - a beloved son, brother, cousin and dedicated professional - who was diagnosed three years ago. His journey, marked
by severe crises, complex treatments, unshakable faith, and miraculous recovery, inspired the birth of this foundation, by his sister. Through Carlos, we discovered that every MG pateient
is unique - like a snowflake - and deserves awareness, access, and compassionate care. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a long term neuromuscular junction disease that leads to varying degrees of
skeletal muscle weakness. The most commonly affected muscles are those of the eyes, face, and swallowing. It can result in double vision, drooping eyelids and difficulties in talking and walking. Onset
can be sudden. MG affects 50 to 200 people per million. It is newly diagnosed in 3 to 30 people per million each yar. Diagnosis has become more common due to increased awareness. Please consider donating. Your donations will help create awareness to patients and the medical professional in Puerto Rico.
